Goondiwindi Apex

One of the Best State Conventions Ever!

The members of the Apex Club of Goondiwindi are feeling very proud after having the weekend Apex QLD State Convention judged one of the best ever.

Club member and State Convention Chairman Andrew Wilkie has paid tribute to all the club members, partners and a network of past members who made the convention such a success.
“All our Apex visitors had a wonderful time and it was due to the hard work put in by our club and the support of the wider Goondiwindi community. Every time we approached a business or another service club with a request for assistance the first response was always – that won’t be a problem, we will do what we can to help. I think that attitude is what makes Goondiwindi not just a great town but also a great community. ”

The convention was an opportunity to showcasing Goondiwindi and the surrounding districts. Visitors were so impressed by the areas such as the Waterpark and the river surrounds that quite a number of Apex delegates said they may move to Goondiwindi. “Of course three or four inches of rain in the past fortnight certainly had everything looking beautiful and green – so we were lucky” said Andrew Wilkie
Club member Adam Woods was just piped at the post for the Qld Apexian of the Year. Andrew Wilkie who was a member of the judging panel said it was a very close decision. “Adam was just shaded by the winner Meagan Housden of Mt Isa. However they are both outstanding young Apexians and the whole community should be proud of Adam and his achievements. “

One of the many high points of the weekend was the “Day at the Races” convention dinner on the Saturday night. “The Goondiwindi Apex Club did not win any of the formal awards on the night, we had at least one winner with David Sloss and his horse being judged best dressed couple.”
The success of the weekend has left club members reenergized and feeling positive about Apex’s future as a community service club in the Goondiwindi. “We will be running a number of service and membership events in the near future, so if you are male or female between 18 and 45 and you want to do community service while having fun then contact a member of the Apex Club of Goondiwindi.”
